This information has to be put somewhere, and since I couldn't really find a good place on Reddit, I decided I'd start by writing my thoughts here. First, let me introduce you to my hairdryer:
This is my beloved hairdryer from Justice. I believe I received this as a gift more than 10 years ago as a middle school girl. Now 23, I still have and use this hairdryer. However, this keeps happening:
The two halves of the hairdryer keep separating, and sometimes they separate too much and I start the hairdryer, and it only turns on at like half power until I push the two pieces back together with my hands (sometimes almost burning my hands since the hairdryer gets hot). While it has been surprisingly durable for lasting me over 10 years, it's definitely something I've been thinking about replacing.
I was intrigued then when I saw this exact hairdryer during my thrifting run at Goodwill today:
I was perplexed, as it was the exact same shape and button slider as my hairdryer. How pecuilar. This is the Conair Hair Dryer Model #247RP - 1875W.
So, when I got home I did some googling, a lot of googling. I know that a LOT of times, if there's a product you enjoy that's branded or licensed in some way, and isn't something that company normally makes, that some other company did the actual manufacturing of that product, and then the logo was put onto whatever model they're basing this off of.
So, after several keyword searches and some reverse image searching, I came across this:
Conair 1875 Watt mid-size styler
Justice 1875 Watt mid-size styler
How incredible! The justice brand hairdryers were simply re-skinned versions of this exact conair hairdryer. This made me feel good since I'd kind of been under the impression this hairdryer was maybe cheaper in some way or more like, for a kid rather than an adult. But no, it's the same exact hairdryer just with different prints. And in fact....
The exact model is still (not sponsored) currently available on
Walmart.com for 22.95
So there you go, if you're like me and were gifted one of these incredible Justice hairdryers that is finally about to give up after 10+ years of incredible service (I wish to get mine repaired eventually since I love the print so much still after all these years, but that is a whole other task entirely) this is what to look for. Hopefully I can find some sort of solution to my problem between all of these different hairdryers. If this blogpost helped you you can leave a comment or find me on Reddit, u/sewingself.
