Why we might not see the Marie grace mold again

With the retirement of Marie grace, many people are wishing that AG will use her face mold again. I am here to tell you that this is very unlikely. The reason being that Marie grace did not sell well. This is aparant because even Cecile is sold out now. Because the doll didn't sell well it's highly unlikely that we will see any dolls with that facemold. It's also unlikely that we will see anything close to a theme around the time period. Meaning it's very unlikely we'll get another 1800's doll or other things close to the theme of marie grace and Cecile.

Can we predict when things will retire?

Now the title of the post may seem pointless. We often know when dolls will retire because of personal shoppers and other good sources. I'm talking about things such as outfits and accessories. for those of you who don't know, Kit's typewriter set was retired a while back. This saddened me because her typewriter is such an important part of her story. Unlike when a doll is retiring, AG gives no notice of when Outfits,Furniture, accessories or pets will be discontinued. It's like one day it's there and the next day it's gone. How can we predict when these things will retire? Let's look into it...

I've only been in the AG community for 3 years. But after recently looking at items on the wiki and such I've begun to notice a trend. Many of the items are kept around for 3 years. For example...

Butterfly garden dress released 2012- Retired 2014 3 years
Genine outfit released 2011 retired 2014- 3 years
Ruffled hoodie outfit released 2012 retired 2014 - 2 years

As you can see, it looks as though AG outfits (at least the modern outfits, I'm assuming all the historicals will have new outfits and their outfits are kept for a number of years) are kept around for 2-4 years.

So from this (and you can do your own research on the american girl wiki) we can assume that products will be kept for 2-4 years. This is good to know especially for prioritizing.
