My Lindsey collection

So, Lindsey was my third american girl doll. I recived her for my 11th birthday, and she is beautiful. Now, Lindsey is American girl of today 2001, so she was from e-bay. She was my first TLC project, as I had to tighten her limbs, as well as do a little work on her hair. I've had her for almost a year now, so I thought I would show you guys my Lindsey collection.

Here is an over view of my collection. I am only missing 2 items, Lindsey's tights (also Lindsey's underwear, but I got her another pair of underwear) as well as her diary pen. There were no outfits avalible for Lindsey. The only accessories avalible were her accessories and her scooter. The collection was avalible as a whole for $135.

Lindsey's accessories
Lindsey herself
Lindsey on her scooter
That's all! I hope you guys enjoyed. Lindsey is the only American girl of today (Girl of the year) doll that I own.

FINALLY FINISHED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FINALLY!!! For goodness sake, that tote took FOR-EV-ER!!!
Here's how it turned out :
All of the other pics. are just not interesting. It is about the size of a reusable shopping bag, and will hold 2 dolls. Tomorrow I will go and hand stitch some parts that are messed up There is also a big pocket on the front, as well as 2 heart appliques. This project took me almost 10 hours. And that's only estimating.
The pockets to hold the dolls are SO TIGHT. It is either me or the company, I don't know. I will probably not use the pockets often. Oh well, I am so DONE!!!!!! I know I sound angry, but I'm just tired. Goodnight, and sweet dreams.

Why I hate patterns

Okay, so I finally get interfacing, and it's not interfacing. I don't know what that stuff is, but it is NOT interfacing. All it says on the back is how to make appliques, nothing about interfacing. I ( after I finish this stinking tote) officially give up on patterns. I am going to do everything without patterns, and just let my mom and relatives do some of the patterns for like my birthday or Christmas. Why such the odd decision? Here's why:
( List goes in no particular order)

  1. Patterns are SO BIG, and when you try to fold them up they're full of air and so puffy.
  2. The instructions are like SO CONFUSING
  3. whenever you finish cutting the fabric, it is in such weird and unfold-able shapes
  4. They contain useless cutting guides
  5. They take FOREVER
  6. They require like 100 sheets of interfacing
  7. It's all so fragile
  8. Patterns are so hard to store
  9. They're hard to read to
  10. Nothing ever turns out like you thought it would
  11. Uses confusing vocabulary
  12. one hiccup and the whole thing is ruined
  13. When will you ever get time to make the very thing?
And now, for some facts

  1. I can easily make a pair of doll pants in like 20 min. But it takes me 2 days to use a sewing pattern to make a doll bag.
  2. I have not sewn in like the past week because all I've been doing is trying to cut out pattern pieces and find the right interfacing
and NO, I am not using wonder under as a substitute for interfacing.

After I make this bag, I am officially done using patterns. Why am I still making the bag? ( If It is possible for me to make it) Because, I've already ironed on the interfacing, and started working on it. Already cut the fabric and because if I don't, then I've wasted a lot of time to.

Overall, I hate patterns. I make batter stuff with my own 2 hands than I do with patterns.

My current sewing project!

So, I was going to post about my Lindsey collection today, but since I am actually working on a big sewing project right now, I  decided to blog about that instead, I will save the Lindsey post for tommorow.

Today I started a big sewing project, here is what I am trying to make:

This is a doll tote. In case you're wondering, the pattern is from McCall's crafts, and is M5019

So, today I thought " I am going to do this!"
Firstly, I cut out my fabric, then fused the interfacing. That's when I ran into a little problem... we don't have enough interfacing for all the pieces, so I need to go and get more. I also have to get paper backed webbing so I can do the appliques, which could be dificult. Once I get some more stuff, I should be good to go!

Here is my progress...

You see, pattern pieces 4,5,6,and 7 need interfacing. I only have enough interfacing right now for pieces 5 and 6. (Note that pieces 4 and 5 are cut on folds, making 2 fabric pieces)

Here is what my pieces with interfacing look like at the moment:

The pieces of fabric with interfacing (pattern pieces 5 & 6)

This is a pile of the other pattern pieces (3,4,&7) as well as the heart appliques.

Now, I have to also pick out a contrasting color (a fabric to use for the decorations)

Here is my contrasting color: (The one my finger is on, it is way darker in real life)

It's not a proper contrasting color, but it will do. That's pretty much my progress! I hope to finish this tote soon, It looks so cool!

Samantha's legacy

Okay, Okay, I know I haven't been posting on my blog regularly, but I will try to do better. I never do good with daily things...

Anyways, let's get to what's really been on my mind.

Samantha. Beautiful Samantha.
Ever since AG announced that they were bringing back Samantha, the world has been amiss. AG won't tell anything else other than she is coming back. We don't know if she will have a new outfit, come back with all of her collection, be limited edition, or other questions.

Here's my list of thoughts

  • If they bring back archived dolls after 6 years, I can't wait for 2019! (Molly and Emily's return)
  • Based on $120 Isabelle, Samantha will come back with a HUGE $$$$$$$
  • She's probably going to be limited edition or something
  • What will the Archives look like after this?
  • Will she Archive again?
  • Will some of her items be changed?
So, will Samantha come back and reclaim the legacy she once had, or will she take on the new world in which she must compete against the My american girls, Isabelle, and the other historical dolls to win little girl's hearts?

Ghoulia!!!

So, recently a new walgreens opened up near me. So, today it opened up, and I went in, and found skultimate roller maze Ghoulia! I was really surprised, I thought that Skultimate roller maze was gone. For a review, go here. They also had dead tired wave 3 (2 robecca's and lagoona's, 1 spectra) as well as a music festival Clawdeen that hoped in the case to. I hope to save up enough $$ to then go back and get all of DT wave 3. If I do this before they restock, that leaves 1 robecca and lagoona, as well as the music festival Clawdeen. Which I will leave for other customers. I hope they get a slo-mo. I really want him, and my 2 ghoulia's need him. Oh well, Happy hunting!

A one inch piece of plastic could buy you a luxury vacation to Jamaica

I only found out about this last night, but in the series 10 lego mini figures, there was a special figure "Mr.Gold". These "Mr.Gold"figures are golden chrome mini figures, and were going for thousands of dollars on e-bay. What makes Mr.gold so special, you ask? He is a limited edition figure... there are only 5,000 worldwide. Now, series 10 is no longer available, but Mr.Gold is still on e-bay... if you would like to shovel out a couple hundred dollars. Basically, the lego world went wild. He was the rarest mini fig. as well as the most talked about mini fig. There has never been another figure as rare as Mr.Gold, but who knows?

There were even reports of toysrus employees searching through cases before bringing them up to the store floor in the attempt to find Mr.Gold. Now, there is even an interactive map where you can see where Mr.Gold has been found.

It's a bit hard to see, but the strange thing is... there are 2,969 codes remaining. Where could these figures be? These are a few of my ideas...

  • In the hands of greedy scamers
  • Still in packs that have not been opened.
  • collectors checklists that have been thrown away
  • lost by time
  • The code's don't work anymore?
  • Who knows....
Series 10 is now discontinued, and came out in I think the summer of 2012. If you want some lego mini figures, series 12 from the lego movie is available now, and toysrus has TONS of cases.
Lego has not made another mini figure that was this rare, and I have a feeling they won't. Lego recived many letters about how some people wish the figure was not limited edition. But, the legacy still stands. If you are interested in this drama, you can just google or search youtube for lego Mr.Gold, and you can read more on the chaos. I hope to start getting these minifigures, but I am not going to try and afford a Mr.Gold.

Now, for my problems with the whole chaos...

  • What about one little kid who just wants to collect and play with legos? Between all of the collectors and scamers, little kids have a nearly 0% chance of getting a Mr.Gold!
  • It's a ONE INCH PIECE OF PLASTIC!!!! Plastic is made of oil. (petroleum)
It's amazing what a One inch piece of plastic can cause.

Things that I hate happen when people mainstream american girl stores

Okay, I have a few...complaints. So, when AGP (American girl places) are featured, either on the news, the web etc. etc. They often make some things misunderstood... Let me show you.

  • "You can even admit your doll to the doll hospital" Okay, first of all, NO, only the bigger stores have doll hospital admissions. If someone were to go to Kansas city AGP, they would be very disappointed because there are no doll hospital admissions there. I'm sure you could ask someone at the front desk, but there is no official doll hospital admissions in the smaller AGP's.
  • "Every doll comes with a book/back story..." OKAY, ONLY THE HISTORICAL AND GIRL OF THE YEAR DOLLS COME WITH A BOOK. " I didn't mean to yell, but I need to get my point across.
  • They do acknowledge the special needs items, but when they say epi pen, they should really note that it comes with the allergy free lunch, not separately.
That's the most current ones. If I missed something, tell me down below. What does the media do that annoys you?

Drama!

Wow, you would never think that I could get into such drama, but here's the deal...

I have been listening to rumors, from people on AG's facebookpage, as well as Rhonda (Medef2003 ) and other sources. Here's what's going on...

Speculation (unproven fact)

AG has trademarked the phrase "Be forever" This has lead some people to believe that AG will revamp the historical character line. If that happens, here's what goes down.
- Retirement of NOLA (Marie grace and Cecile)
- Retirement of best friend dolls (Ivy and Ruthie)
-If AG does retire, it is rumored that AG will announce it in the spring if MG and Cecile are retiring, that gives collectors time to finish off their collections.
as well as other changes. Now, here's what we know for a fact

  • Samantha Parkington will be re released this fall
  • Marie grace and Cecile have not been selling very well, and did not get anything new in the spring releases. In fact, the only new things they have gotten were their limited edition table& chairs set, as well as each of their limited edition outfits.
  • Best friend dolls are considered accessories to the main dolls.
  • Historical characters archive, meaning they can come back if AG chooses to reintroduce them. GOTY's retire, meaning that they will never come out again.
I can't think of any more facts to put on the list, but I might update this later when I find out. My advice is, do not get to into these rumors, and do not panic and spend a lot of money on the dolls that are supposedly retiring. We need an official announcement from AG before we start buying things. So, don't start impulsively buying dolls just because they might retire. Just don't get to deep into it, okay?

Can you say, DRAMA?

Sew.A.Pa.Lo.o.za

I have been sewing so much today! I meant to make a tutorial on youtube a few days ago, but the webcam would just not cooperate, so I decided to do a tutorial on here which I might post if I can get all the pictures up. SO, lately I've been making...

This Tank top as well s this pair of very tight fitting pants:

I couldn't get photos of these because it's really late, but if you go to my youtube channel you can see them all in videos.
2 bikini tops and a  bikini top (& bottom!)
As well as a cute little dress

And who can forget Ashllyn Ella's wedding dress:

I am loving sewing! In a few years, when I'm good enough, I might open an etsy shop.

What have you made recently?

The rumors are flying

Okay, the rumors are flying. First some said that the NOLA collection would archive. ( Marie grace and cecile, okay, could some one please tell me what the heck NOLA means?) Now, Ivy's rainbow romper was sold out, now people are saying that 4 dolls will archive at once, and it's all so confusing! Especially that I have wanted MG and Ivy for a while, I just wish they would mark them down! I've also heard different things from different sources, it's just gone crazy! So, how are you tolerating the rumors?

New tutorial coming soon!

So, my friend recently asked me to re-create an outfit she had made for her doll. It was just pieces of fabric glued together, so I recreated it with a different fabric, and will be doing a tutorial sometime in the future. Could be as early as tomorrow or this weekend. I haven't made the bottoms yet, as I don't know how I'm going to do them. I may just make a second part once I figure out how to make them.

Sorry for the short post, I still don't have a really good idea or a ton of time.

Let it go!

So, I received Molly's ice skating outfit as well as her skates and muffs set for Christmas last year, and today I finally got a chance to use them! Last night, it was sleeting and then the sleet froze and then it snowed like 3 inches, so now we have 3 inches (6 cm) of snow and a thick layer of ice. (we were out of school today) SO, I decided to put Molly in her ice skating outfit and have her skate on a patch of ice we had cleared out. It was so much FUN! I felt like I was actually playing with her, rather than just looking at her. I also put a cami underneath her jacket, since the outfit does not have a shirt. I wanted to put the coconut fun outfit leggings on her legs to, but I couldn't find them. I had a great time! If you ever get the chance, play with your dolls outside! ( with safety precautions of course)

How is this not adorable?

Today, I'm going to show you guys a very sute hairstyle to do on Emily or any other short haired doll. I don't really know what you would call it, french braid pigtails I guess.

Materials
-wire wig hairbrush
-spray bottle (optional, but this will be difficult without it )
-2 rubber bands/ponytails/hair holders  or you can use hair elastics to

Here is what it will look like:

Step 1: lightly mist your dolls hair with water and brush through it so there are no tangles

Step 2: divide the hair in half

step 3: start on one side, then french braid down the side of her head. ( if you don't know how to french braid, you can either just regular braid, or go to youtube and look up a tutorial)

Step 4: finish one side, then tie it off with an elastic. Repeat step 3 on the other side and tie it off with a hair holder.

Step 5: finish!

Isn't it so cute! I hope this is simple! Anyways, goodbye for now!
(This was supposed to be up like 2 days ago, but my webcam was having issues)
